Our Story
Kinloch Restaurant and Bar was born from a passion for quality food, heartfelt hospitality, and celebrating the beautiful natural environment of the Central North Island. Located at 8 Mata Place, Kinloch, we opened our doors with a simple vision: to create a relaxed yet refined space where people feel at home. Our name reflects our deep connection to the local community and the stunning Kinloch area — a place known for its peaceful lakeside setting, outdoor adventures, and friendly atmosphere.
We take pride in being more than just a restaurant. We’re a gathering place — somewhere families celebrate special occasions, friends catch up over great wine, couples enjoy romantic dinners, and travellers refuel after a day exploring Lake Taupō, hiking the nearby trails, or enjoying water sports
Our Philosophy
At Kinloch, we believe food should be honest, generous, and full of flavour. We source the best local and seasonal ingredients wherever possible, supporting New Zealand producers and highlighting the fresh, vibrant produce of the Taupō region. Our chefs craft every dish with care, blending classic techniques with creative twists and international influences — from comforting Kiwi favourites to Indian-inspired curries, Asian-inspired fried rice, and modern bistro classics.
